Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is the procedure used to remove excess fat and skin from the front of the abdomen while tightening the abdominal muscles like a corset. Every year this is the procedure with the highest satisfaction rate, with 97% of patients stating they would do it again. Abdominoplasty can also be used to remove stretch marks below the belly button, and is almost always performed with liposuction of the fat above the belly button. Most patients choose to add liposuction of the flanks to the procedure to improve the contour of the waist-line while tightening the abdomen. An abdominoplasty is frequently performed at the same time as a breast augmentation, breast augmentation with lift, or breast lift surgery in the so called “mommy makeover.” Additionally, we occasionally recommend performing a tummy tuck in conjunction with a buttock lift which is frequently referred to as a 360-degree lift, a lower body lift, or a circumferential belt lipectomy. This is often the case with patients who have lost significant amounts of weight or who have excess skin of the back. Multiple approaches exist for tummy tuck surgery, and Dr. Makipour will discuss all the options available as well as give his honest recommendations to help you figure out how best to achieve your goals.
